Cheers rose up! Our Derek Fisher will remain with us playing
for our Laker team!! As point guard we really needed his expertise.
We have now acquired another young man that recently has played
for the Clippers and for Portland. His name is Steve Blake. Jordan
Farmar, formerly in that role, has now signed on with New Jersey.
Kobe Bryant has been urging Raja Bell to also become a Laker
but it appears at this writing that he will probably be going with
the Utah Jazz instead. Even with LeBron James becoming a player
with Miami Heat along with both Dwyane Wade and Bosh, it is
doubtful that Miami could claim the Championship next year.
It is looking quite likely that our Lakers will be a three-peat.
The Miami club could possibly be the winners in two or three
years down the line with such an impressive lineup in their camp.
Derek Fisher played 82 games last season. The 5th. consecutive
season he has not missed a regular season game. Blake has played 80
games 2009-10. That included the final 29 with the Clippers after a
February trade from Portland. Blake has called Fisher a role model
for himself. Shannon Brown will be replaced. At this time unsure just
who will come in to fill that spot. The Lakers General Manager, Mitch
Kupchak is happy to have filled the top two point guard spots and is
expecting the players to find their niche in starters and bench plays.
The backcourt would then be pretty well covered but as of right now it is appearing more and more that we will not be getting Raja Bell.
The Lakers are over the salary cap for next season & have only $1.8
Mil. of the mid-level acception remaining to offer. The signing of Blake and Fisher leaves Kupchak with one guard spot to be filled.
What it comes down to is that this tag team of Fisher and Blake
ought to be a great combination showing us all a needed improvement with our backcourt over last season. Time will tell.

Honestly thought Derek Fisher was a shoo-in for remaining
with our Lakers, didn't you? Now today I hear he is down
south in Miami talking with them. Don't they have enough
getting LeBron James to play along with Dwayne Wade
and Bosh? In about one or two years, that Miami Heat
will very likely be taking the championship. Meanwhile
our Lakers just might get another win at season's end for
a three-peat but do believe that we need Derek Fisher
to remain with us.Knowing Miami has no point guard
at the moment, we certainly shy away from wanting them
to take ours away from us. We need you Derek!
I did read that those who found cause to destroy property
after the Championship was ours, are being dealt with
made me happy. Heavy fines were handed out, several
were incarcerated and many had to do community services.
Also, the ban was placed upon some of them to not be
able to set foot inside Staples Center for a whole year.
To show glee in destructive manner is not the way to go.
When drunkeness gets into the mix it is far too un-sports
worthy to hardly mention. Yes, we all hope for another
ring but to blandly begin riots and torch cars not only is
ugly, it is no where near the face we want to show for
our Lakers..Let's regroup and begin to grow up fans!
So grateful our coach Phil Jackson, has made his decision
to remain with our Laker team & prayers said for his health.
Finding out ego's can trickle into the fray, hoping our team
will remain stalwart to not allow too much of that to interrupt
our goals and hope too that Derek Fisher stays with us.

Coach Phil Jackson
Breathe easier my friends, our coach Phil Jackson has made his decision to come back to coach our Laker team yet another year!!! His philosophies and candid coaching style gave us eleven seasons as our Laker coach.C With having won 5 titles underneath his style of coaching + having been to the finals in 7 of 10 games, that is pretty amazing. Lakers General Manager, Mitch Kupchak says that Phil is not only the best coach for this team, but quite simply the best coach in the history of the NBA. Interestingly, he was a member of 2 championship teams as a player in the 1970's. His .705 winning percentage as a coach is the best in league history as are his 225 playoff victories. He has 1,098 regular-season victories, which is 5th. most in NBA history. Now we also find another discovery to relate. The Lakers have agreed to terms with Steve Blake who split time with the Clippers and the Portland Trailblazers. Blake is known as a deft shooter. The Lakers cannot officially sign Blake on until next Thursday but Blake's sister, Debbie, broke the news of the agreement as a producer on a sports talk radio show called the Bald Faced Truth in Portland, OR. Blake averaged 7.3 points and 4.8 assists in 80 games last season and hits 39.5 percent from 3 point range and is known as a solid playmaker. October is but a very short few months away so then we can watch our team in action once again. YES !!! Babs Wells |
