Cheers rose up! Our Derek Fisher will remain with us playing
for our Laker team!! As point guard we really needed his expertise.
We have now acquired another young man that recently has played
for the Clippers and for Portland. His name is Steve Blake. Jordan
Farmar, formerly in that role, has now signed on with New Jersey.
Kobe Bryant has been urging Raja Bell to also become a Laker
but it appears at this writing that he will probably be going with
the Utah Jazz instead. Even with LeBron James becoming a player
with Miami Heat along with both Dwyane Wade and Bosh, it is
doubtful that Miami could claim the Championship next year.
It is looking quite likely that our Lakers will be a three-peat.
The Miami club could possibly be the winners in two or three
years down the line with such an impressive lineup in their camp.
Derek Fisher played 82 games last season. The 5th. consecutive
season he has not missed a regular season game. Blake has played 80
games 2009-10. That included the final 29 with the Clippers after a
February trade from Portland. Blake has called Fisher a role model
for himself. Shannon Brown will be replaced. At this time unsure just
who will come in to fill that spot. The Lakers General Manager, Mitch
Kupchak is happy to have filled the top two point guard spots and is
expecting the players to find their niche in starters and bench plays.
The backcourt would then be pretty well covered but as of right now it is appearing more and more that we will not be getting Raja Bell.
The Lakers are over the salary cap for next season & have only $1.8
Mil. of the mid-level acception remaining to offer. The signing of Blake and Fisher leaves Kupchak with one guard spot to be filled.
What it comes down to is that this tag team of Fisher and Blake
ought to be a great combination showing us all a needed improvement with our backcourt over last season. Time will tell.
Babs Wells
